Rio Vista Resort has more than 50 R/V Sites, many of which are shaded and some with fabulous lake views. All have easy access to the beautiful swimming pool, recreation room, and lake. There is a peaceful, covered pier located within 400 feet of the R/V section, available for fishing or for enjoying the beautiful Texas sunrise. Park benches, picnic tables and barbeque grills are available to all and conveniently located throughout the park.

There are restrooms with hot showers, a laundry room, a recreation room with a full kitchen and a pool table available for our guests. There is also a small workout room and an outdoor ping pong table. Best of all is the large, heated swimming pool, complete with waterfall, and the relaxing hot tub, located near the R/V section. Of course, the pool area is furnnished with several lounge chairs and other furniture. It is the perfect place for family fun in the Spring and Summer and for Winter Texans in the Fall and Winter.

In the winter there are always activities for retired guests at Rio Vista. There are Pot Luck Suppers, Fish Frys, Breakfast and Brunch parties, Bingo, Texas Hold’em, etc. At the Kingsland Senior Center, located just two blocks away, there are many more activities. As well, the Chamber of Commerce sponsors Appreciation Suppers for Winter Texans. There are also many golf courses in the area with a range of courses suitable for everyone from amateurs to professionals.

Within fifteen miles of Rio Vista, you will also find a bowling alley, a miniature golf course, a seven screen movie theatre, two libraries, dozens of antique stores, restaurants and churches. If you can work in the time, you can also feed the ducks or fish off our pier or in your own boat. The Park is located a short one hour drive from Austin and a one and a half hour drive from historic San Antonio. It is the perfect place for vacationers or retired guests. You have to love this place!

Rio Vista is actually very different in the summer than it is in the winter. During the summer months, the resort is abuzz with lake activities and water sports. Boats are being taken in and out of the lake on our boat ramp. The boat slips and piers are full of ski boats, fishing boats, and jet skis. Groups without their own boats rent our kayak or canoe, or have jet skis and larger boats delivered to our pier from boat rental businesses on the lake. People are swimming in the lake and swimming pool, playing ping pong or riding bikes. Families are playing baseball, bocce, pool, horseshoes or other games. You can smell the barbeque and hear the laughter. It is truly a fun place to be!

In the winter things change. The Winter Texans arrive from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Canada, etc. They bring with them a zest for life and a happy spirit. They play golf, go antiquing, play card games, play pool, visit area sites and fish, fish, fish. As a group, we go out to dinner, have pot luck suppers, breakfasts and brunches. (Yes, a lot of our activities do revolve around food.) But, we also play bingo or Texas Hold’em and have Christmas parties, Valentine parties, St. Patty’s Day parties, etc. – you get the picture. In the winter, we also have visiting bald eagles. There is an eagle’s nest just six miles from Rio Vista, and the eagles stay well into April.
